Step 1: Open an internet browser and go to http://www.bing.com/businessportal/. Click on the Get Started Now button located on the right hand corner of the page. Make sure your NAP (Name Address Phone) document is readily available to easily copy and paste easy information.

Step 2: Enter in your business information to check and see if Bing already has a listing that you can claim. After all of the information is entered click on the Search button to continue.

Step 3: As seen in the image, Bing does not have any information for this business, therefore, we will need to add it. Click on the Add new listing button to continue to the next step in submitting your business listing. If you see a listing that has your company information, claim the listing instead of adding a new listing.

Step 4: A small pop-up window will show and ask for your business phone number and a captcha code to verify that you are a human. Enter in your local phone number and the code shown on your screen. When finished, click on the Ok button to continue.

Step 5: You will now have to sign in to your Microsoft account. If you have one, simply sign in to continue, if you do not have a Microsoft account, click on the Sign up now button to create a Microsoft account. Go through the sign up process and create a Microsoft email account. You will be able to use any email account you prefer, you just have to verify the email address before to continue.

Step 6: A new pop-up will show and ask you to for contact and communication preferences. Enter in your contact information and make sure to check the box that says that you agree to the terms and conditions. The other 2 check boxes on the page are optional. Once finished, click on the Accept button to continue.

Step 7a: Now it’s time to start adding some pertinent information about your business. Underneath your business name you will see an empty field called “What kind of business is this?” Click on the little three dot gray button at the end of the field to continue adding a primary category.

Step 7b: A new pop-up window will show after clicking on the three dot box with a list of primary categories. Type in the most popular category/keyword that you have and find the best category that fits your business. Once you have the found the best category, click on it to save it as your primary category and to continue.

Step 7c: Working down the list field by field, start entering the appropriate information for your listing. It’s important to remember that the more information you have to add to your listing the better. When you are finished adding information on this page, double-check to make sure all the information is correct and click on the Next button on the lower right hand side of the page.

Step 8: Referencing your NAP document, simply add the appropriate information as it pertains to your business. After you have entered in all appropriate information, click on the Next button on the lower right hand side of the page.

Step 9: This screen will enable you to find up to 5 categories that fit your business. Try and find as many relevant categories as possible. When you are finished entering in proper categories, click on the Next button on the lower right hand side of the page.

Step 10: Here is where you get to add more relevant information about your products and services. You can add up to 10 products and services. Start with the top field by naming it Primary services and in the description enter in your keywords. The other fields should talk about specials or specific services that are relevant to your business. If your pricing is standard and does not change, then add your pricing. If you offer services and do not have stand alone pricing then add Call for pricing in this box. When you are finished entering in this information, click on the Next button.

Step 11: Photos: You can add up to 9 photos to your listing. If you have photos, add them and give them unique captions that are relevant to your services. If you do not have photos, that is fine, you can always come back and update the listing after it has been approved and add photos to the listing. When finished, click on the Next button.

Step 12: This is the preview section of your listing. Go through your listing and make sure that all of the information is correct. When finished, click on the Next button.

Step 13: Time for verification. If you are editing a current listing you should be able to verify by phone. If that option is available, choose it. If you only have the option to verify by mail. Click on the Verify button and expect to wait about 2-4 weeks for the postcard to show up. In some cases the Bing postcard does show up sooner, make sure you keep your eye out for it.

Step 14a: Click on the send mail button to confirm that Bing will send you a postcard in the mail.

Step 14b: After clicking on the send mail button, a pop-up window will show and give you a message like this. Close the window when complete.

Step 15: That is all you can do for now with your Bing listing until it is verified. When you receive the postcard in the mail sign back into the Bing Business Portal, click on your listing on the left hand side of the navigation, and click on the Verification tab. Enter in your PIN number to verify your listing.
