SAFETY FIRST!!!

Some people have allergic reactions to feathers. Please handle

the feathers with care. Dispose the trimmed feathers right away

after finishing this project to avoid the feather fibers to be

inhaled.

The finished product created from this tutorial contains small

parts. The child wearing this headband should always be under

an adult’s supervision as the small parts could be a choking

hazard.

popularly used.)

STEP 1:

Measure your baby’s head circumference to where you want to place the headband.

STEP 2:

Trim a strip of Garterized / Elastic Lace. The lace should be 1 ½ inches or 3.81cm

shorter than the circumference of your baby’s head.

Here is a SIZE CHART of the Length of Garter / Elastic You would need according to Age

AGE LENGTH OF GARTER STRIP

Newborn

13.5inches / 34.29 cm

0-3 Months

14 inches / 35.56 cm

3-6 Months

15 inches / 38.1 cm

STEP 3:

Fold the Elastic Lace into half. The WRONG SIDES should be touching each other.

RIGHT SIDE (Prettier and More Detailed)

WRONG SIDE (Usually the flatter side)

STEP 4:

Attach the two ends of the elastic by sewing BACK STITCHES ½ cm from the edge.

The back stitch is appropriate for securing the elastic.

The back stitches don’t have to be even. You just need to secure the elastic together.

STEP 5:

Put a strip of glue across the felt patch, and then attach the elastic. The glue should stick at the

WRONG SIDE of the elastic.

TIP: Stretch the elastic a little first before attaching the felt patch. The sewn part should be at

the middle of the felt patch.

STEP 6:

Start adding some glue to the area where you want to put your first base material

(feathers).

STEP 7:

Add the first base material (feathers)

STEP 8:

Add some glue for your next base material, and then attach the leaves.

STEP 9:

Fold both ends of your 4 x 7 inch Birdcage Veil. Both ends should meet and at least

overlap 1cm of their ends at the center of the birdcage veil.

STEP 10:

Gather the middle part of the folded birdcage veil with your fingers to form a bow.

STEP 11:

Secure the thread by knotting and stitching it through the gathered part of the birdcage

veil bow, and then tie the thread around the gathered part of the bow.

STEP 12:

Secure the thread by stitching and knotting it through the gathered part of the bow.

STEP 13:

Add some glue at the middle of the bow, and then attach it to the base of your headband.

STEP 14:

Add some glue to the base of the headband, and then attach the millinery berries.

STEP 15:

Add glue at the base of the flower cabochon, and then attach it to the base of the

headband.

STEP 16:

Remove the excess glue threads.
