Who are we and what do we do?

We are a company of GNSS geeks, whodo some fantastic things Design electronic hardware Build prototype solutions Write firmware and software Develop advanced digital signal processing algorithms Build our own GNSS receiver Develop advanced positioning and navigation algorithms Integrate GNSS with other sensors, such as inertial sensors Integrate GNSS with high accuracy mapping Build server side solutions Test commercial systems and provide advice

Who do we work for?

We specialise in Making sure that you can trust your GNSS-based system/service. Ensure that solutions are

secure, monitor for, and protect against, vulnerabilities. Making sure that GNSS output (position, velocity, time) is correct. Ensure that GNSS is safe to use

and you can be relied upon (minimise false alarms)

This is a niche offering, we are in demand from UK Government; We work for DfT, MOJ, Defra, BIS (UK Space), MOD (DSTL) Industry; We work for companies who operate and own satellites, implement large systems and

deliver products and services, for example Airbus, QinetiQ, Avanti, GMV, Spirent UK Authorities; We work for the aviation, rail, road and maritime authorities (transport) and law

enforcement, emergency services and homeland security (civil protection) European government and organisations; We work for the European Space Agency on their space

programmes and the European Commission for the implementation of GNSS into applications Worldwide; We extend our services to similar organisations throughout the world

It’s cutting edge stuff GNSS is being relied upon within more and more applications. We are defining the future market

Case Study: Galileo PRS Receiver Development Galileo is the European GNSS system that is being

developed and includes a secure encrypted signal called the Public Regulated Service

It is a restricted service and can only be used by authorised agencies (government, military, etc)

NSL worked with the EC to develop a novel way for receivers to utilise the PRS signal opening up the markets to many more government organisations. Previously it was price prohibitive.

NSL patented solutions and developed working prototypes

Solutions and systems can only be developed by authorised in-country companies

NSL now work with QinetiQ and Airbus providing the UK’s PRS solution NSL are providing the receiver hardware, DSP, and navigation

solutions QinetiQ and Airbus provide the system and communications

security layer

Case Study: Detector UK and European government notice the rise in the

use of GPS jammers that disrupt GPS based systems NSL developed solution to detect, characterise and

assess the impact of RF interference Integrated solution comprising NSL’s receiver, consumer

receiver, DSP, firmware, software

Prototypes built, IP protected Spirent plc, a company providing leading class GNSS

test equipment with world wide presence, approached NSL to sell Detector

Partnership agreement formed Detector made commercially ready NSL build units, supply to Spirent Spirent sell and provide 1st line support

NSL have set up a 2nd office, staffed by 4 people (growth to 12 in Y1) working exclusively on Detector.

Case Study: SBAS Africa

Partnered with a company who own and operate communications satellites

Provide a new navigation (GNSS) signal into South Africa

1% of the cost of the traditional suppliers, 90% of the functionality

NSL developed the ground based GNSS reference station receivers that are used to provide data for the upstream elements

Integration of COTS, development of software and firmware

Installation of the reference stations Demonstration of possibilities to user

communities

Employee Profile Name: Zoi Nasioula Nationality: Greek Age: 31

Education: MSc Geographic Information Science (GIS), University College London MSc Environmental Engineering, Technical University of Crete BEng Surveying Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki,

Job Title: GIS Engineer Start Date: 4/11/15 Joined from: University College London (UCL)

Why did I join NSL?NSL is a well known and esteemed company in Europe. Moreover, people working for NSL are highly educated and experts in the GNSS. I joined NSL to experience more in GNSS sector and to be able to apply my relevant skills within a pleasant working environment.

What am I working on?I work on the development of NSL in-house GPS Map-Matching technology. This was originally developed for the road transport sector and I am currently working on the enhancement for application in the railway industry. E.g.: I manage the railway GIS database and I develop a process to identify and diagnose errors in the GIS database. The development of the means for the Map-Matching software to handle diverse GPS data sources is also a critical task.

Employee Profile Name: Dr Elisa Benedetti Nationality: Italian Age: 30

Education: PhD University of Rome “La Sapienza“, (Italy) Job Title: Senior Navigation Engineer Start Date: 01/06/15 Joined from: University of Rome “La Sapienza”

Why did I join NSL?Working at NSL I have the opportunity to be involved in many innovative and challenging projects in the satnav field, applying my skills and learning day by day from the interaction with the NSL team which is very dynamic and highly qualified. In addition, the work environment is young and friendly.

What am I working on?I am the technical lead for NSL’s monitoring products. For example, we are currently developing smart and cost-effective multi-sensor devices for the monitoring of land (i.e. landslides) and structures (like buildings, bridges etc.).
