What is What?

Pure Substance- is matter that contains only one element or compound and has definite chemical and physical properties.

Mixture- is matter that contains two or more substances. The physical and chemical properties of a mixture may vary depending on the relative concentrations of the substances contained within it.

Elements- is a material which cannot be broken down or changed into another substance using chemical means. Elements may be thought of as the basic chemical building blocks of matter.

Compounds- Compounds are substances made up of two or more materials (elements) that are chemically combined.

What is What?

MixturesHomogeneous substances (solutions) are completely uniform in their composition. A solution is defined as a homogeneous mixture of molecules of two or more substances. In a heterogeneous or mechanical mixture, the substances are physically mixed but they can later be separated. The mixture is not uniform in its composition.
