Designing for gender equity
More educated women…
…are more likely to educate their own children, particularly girls
…are more likely to seek medical health services
…tend to have fewer, but healthier, children
Women with access to extension services, credit, and land ownership…
…are more likely than men to use income to feed, and provide health care for, their children
…will achieve higher yields (FAO estimates 20–30% higher)
…are more likely to adopt new technologies and approaches
If we can release women from unpaid drudgery …
…they will have more time to learn
…and more time to devote to the next generation
