Glossary
Total Internal Reflection= the complete reflection of a light ray reaching an interface with a less dense medium when the angle of incidence exceeds the critical angle.
Refraction= change in direction of propagation of any wave as a result of its travelling at different speeds at different points along the wave front.
Normal= (of a line, ray, or other linear feature) intersecting a given line or surface at right angles.
Incident Ray= The 'incident ray' is the ray of light that strikes the surface before reflection, transmission, or absorption.
Refracted Ray= A light ray that is bent into a different direction when it changes speed passing from one medium into another.
Angle of incidence= the angle which an incident line or ray makes with a perpendicular to the surface at the point of incidenc
Angle of refraction= the angle made by a refracted ray with a perpendicular to the refracting surface.
Medium= the intervening substance through which sensory impressions are conveyed or physical forces are transmitted.
