Origins and History

1835

Manuel M. Gonzalez founds his own wine Company He looked after his Company for more than 50 years

“I cannot think of a better business than making wine, to it I therefore dedicate my life.”

Mr. Dubosc and Mr. Gutierrez Aguera become partnersThe Company is named Gonzalez & Dubosc

1851

Mr. Byass is named exclusive distributor in the UK.He becomes a partner in 1855

1840

Acquisition of land and construction of bodegas start. First vineyards are bought in 1847

1844

“We shall see what can be done with the very very pale wine you so highly recommend”

González Byass’ exports account for 2% of total Spanish exports

Beginning of 20th century

González Byass began to produce and sell Lepanto in 1908 and Soberano in 1913.

Lepanto is the only Brandy 100% de Jerez, which is harvested, distilled and aged

in Jerez, archiving an unbeatable quality.

The González family buys the shares of the Byass family, after over 100 years of partnership. The company is still owned by the founder’s family, now in 5th and 6th

generation.

of Spain began with one fundamental premise; maintain and develop the unique

personality of each winery.

2001 - 2011Gónzalez Byass strategy focuses on the development of National and International

distribution. Having its own distribution in Spain, Mexico, UK, USA and it also has an office

in China. González Byass has products in over 102 countries around the world.
