High-Tech Companies Moving into Oakland's Uptown By Urban Green Investments

evolution into a high-tech hub with the recent news that Uber has bought the old Sears building in the area with plans to convert it into the company’s headquarters. "Oakland is being seen as the next place for tech," Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf recently told Techwire. The area has recently witnessed a resurgence, with more businesses and jobs locating to Uptown. Schaaf called Uber a “game-changer,” stating that it has created a buzz about downtown Oakland.

Uptown continues to have high demand and low vacancy for office space, and investors such as Urban Green Investments have expressed interest in redeveloping key sites in the district. Recently, Urban Green Investments purchased a historic office building at 1924 Franklin Street in Oakland. The firm plans to transform the structure into upscale office space.
Relocation from San Francisco⦿Moreover, Colliers International is marketing 323 22nd Street as a site for a possible 500,000-square-foot office tower, and other new or expanding tenants in Uptown include CoreLogic and the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine. Some businesses recently have relocated to Uptown from San Francisco.
