Income inequality Definition

Income inequality is the extent to which income is distributed unevenly in a country. It is an important indicator of equity in an economy, and has implications for other social outcomes such as crime and life satisfaction.

Social inequality Definition

Social inequality is the presence of unequal chances and rewards for different social situations or statuses within a group or society.

countries.• Income inequality in Canada has increased over the past 20

years.• Since 1990, the richest group of Canadians has increased its

While the actual gap between the rich and the rest is far greater in the U.S., inequality is growing faster in Canada than in most peer countries. The biggest jump in Canada's inequality occurred from 1994 to the early 2000's. Too much inequality is bad for society and the economy”
