FLAT PLANS

TITLE PAGE This is my final flat plan for my magazine cover. I plan to have the dominant image filling the while cover of my magazine with the other elements placed over the top. Along the left side of my magazine I will have the title, with the writing going portrait rather than landscape. I did this as it allows the title to be obvious and stand out, but not cover any main features of the photo. I decided to put the name of the feature artist just lower than the middle so that it would not block the image behind it but is still easily seen. I decided to put both the name of the feature article and a quote from the article underneath the name of the feature artist to make it clear that the article links to the feature artist and the quote is linked to that article. I decided to put another name of an article in the top right hand corner to make it seem more like a real magazine cover as it is one of the main conventions of a magazine. I then decided to put the issue number, date, and barcode at the bottom so that it stayed with the conventions of a magazine, and so it did not distract from the main features of my magazine cover.

FIRST PAGE OF CONTENTS PAGEThis is my final flat plan for the first page in my magazine which will be positioned to the left of my contents page. I will use this page to show the readers what the charts look like at that point in time as this is what most people said they would like to see in my magazine when they took my questionnaire. I will put the title along the top of the page to make it clear as to what is on the page and then will separate the page into 4 uneven boxes. In the first box will be the singles charts showing top 20 songs with a box being next to it dedicated to a photo of the artist at number 1. Underneath the singles charts box will be another photo box dedicated to the cover of the number 1 album, also positioned to the left of the album charts. The album charts box will show the top 20 albums, which will be in the bottom right box. I have chosen to set this page out in boxes at it makes it easy to read and understand for the audience as well as including visual aspects.

CONTENTS PAGEThis is the final flat plan for my contents page. I will have the ‘contents’ title along the top of my page to make it clear what is on that page and to stand out to the audience as they go through the magazine. Underneath the title will be a runner consisting on 3 photos. This is to keep it looking like a music magazine and to make it more interesting for the readers. Underneath the photos will be the actual contents of the magazine. After analysing the results of my questionnaire I decided to dedicate the bottom part of the contents page to the latest music news as this was something that people are interested in. I set this page out in this way as it fit with the layout of the previous page and is easy to read and understand.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD PG. 1

This is the final flat plan for the first page of the double page spread in my magazine. For this page I wanted to create a more visual page as it will be positioned next to a page full of writing for my article. I decided to create a visual page to keep the readers interested and to give the audience a better understanding of the article linked with it. I decided to keep it simple with boxes which I have done for the pages previous to this one. I wanted to keep with the simple box theme so created a 12 square grid which will consist of 12 images. I was inspired by a similar design in a the magazine ‘DARE’. Although this is not a music magazine, I still liked the payout and thought that I could recreate it but with music based images.

ARTICLE PAGEThis is my final flat plan for my article page. I have decided to position the title at the top of the page to make it clear to the audience that the feature article is on that page. I have decided to place the title of my article on different levels as seen on the flat plan. The title will go across two lines, almost writing around the subtitle. This allows more room for the title so it can be a bold, big font. The subtitle is positioned underneath so the audience reads it straight after the title. I will put the article directly underneath the title and sub-title to make the layout clear to see and to make it easy to read. The article will have a bleed line down the middle to make it easier for the audience to read. Underneath the article I decided to put a footer at the bottom of the page to put more information onto the page. The footer will consist of the page number, the title of the magazine, and what will be on the next page.
