Child labor exploitation can be considered as

the major challenging problem to the progress

of developing countries. Child labor, at the

cost of their right to education, not only

snatches their child hood but also permanently

leaves them in a dark world of poverty. Without

proper education they have to remain

unemployed forever. Thus they become the

burden of their country.

Child labour is the burning problem of today’s

India as it tops the list with the highest number of

child labour in the world. The 2001 national census

of India estimated the total number of child labour,

aged 5–14, to be at 12.6 million. Out of the 12.6

million, 0.12 million are engaged in hazardous job

but the problem of child labour is more severe than

reflected as child labour is estimated to be 60

million in India. Although the Constitution of India

guarantees free and compulsory education to

children between the age of 6 to 14 but it is not

completely applied till today.
