• India’s 66 years of independence is marked with an announcement by Cornell Universityand the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) ranking India in 66th position inthe Global Innovation Index.

• In this day and age, “change is the only thing that remains constant” as old industries falland new ones emerge, simply, it is a philosophy that we all must live by.

• This change is delivered by innovation, created from new knowledge and technologyand with the growth of India as a global economy.

• The UK Government’s gaze is firmly fixed in creating partnerships to drive solution withthe potential to solve issues that affect the world.

• To realize the UK’s ambition to build a stronger bilateral relationship with India, the UKmust gain a deeper understanding of India’s role in delivering innovation. However, understanding India’s diversity and innovation ecosystem is by no means an easy taskand can be overwhelming.

Introduction

Page 18: The india summit bsicc

Vision

• We propose to break away from focusing solely on the India bilateral trade partnershipsand focus on new thinking, trends and innovation that are becoming the foundations of anew era of Indian growth and leadership.

• The Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, declared the next ten years the ‘Decade ofInnovation.’ Yet at first glance, recent developments in India’s innovation ecosystemappear not to have kept pace with its explosive economic growth.

• Whilst India ranks number 1 for innovation in Central and Southern Asia, it lags behindthe rest of the western world, ranking at a mere 66th rank.

• This event will breakdown the changing tides of India innovation in to digestiblesegments enabling the attendee to understand the patterns and opportunities emergingthat are from the global superpower.

Page 19: The india summit bsicc

Intended Outcome

• This events aims to provide its delegates with new thinking and fresh insight about theinnovations that are emerging from India that will push it past its 66th rank in to a globalinnovation leader.

• Our focus will be based on new concepts, products and services that are transformingnot only Indian industry but the way global business is conducted.

• This platform will look to:- Celebrate India’s growth marking 66 years of independence;- Explore new ideas and approaches;- Discover the news trends and patterns that will be emerging and- Provide exclusive access to new products and services that will change markets.

Page 20: The india summit bsicc

• We will create an event that will help UK businesses, policymakers and institutionsbetter understand the opportunities and challenges of engaging with Indian innovationand how to strengthen their efforts to collaborate.

• This conference is aimed at:- Indians looking to understand new opportunities;- Investors with an interest in India;- European partners who are keen to explore potential joint ventures in India and- Policy-makers looking to understand new the best practices.
