Create prominent icon on komu.com to brand Columbia Tomorrow franchise
Encourage assignment meeting staff to pitch growth and development stories and remind reporters to consider the growth and development angle in other stories
Create Franchise
Create supers, OTS, graphics etc. to brand the Growth and Development franchise
Treat the franchise similar to Your Health or Caring Families whereas producers can brand suitable dayturn stories easily by using the supers etc.
Promote much like the “8 On Your Money: State of the Economy” series
Doing so, would allow Columbians to recognize the importance of this topic and how often it relates to their lives
Tease to www.columbiatomorrow.com
Tag at end of story tease to columbiatomorrow.com on applicable stories
Link web story directly to columbiatomorrow.com
Create a strong feed from KOMU dot com to connect growth and development packages on Columbia Tomorrow’s site. This will keep the site looking fresh and updated and will establish a connection between the two sites
Create specific blog on columbiatomorrow.com for KOMU reporters to write about their experiences and observations while reporting on growth and development
Local Communities Model Off Columbia Tomorrow
Because of the nature of KOMU and our expansive viewing area, it would be difficult to market/franchise Columbia Tomorrow without alienating other Mid-Missouri communities
Because of the nature of development, many of these communities will soon face issues now facing Columbia. We can best serve our viewers by alerting them to these issues and applying them to their communities
Some of these communities have a need even greater than Columbia because their growth and development departments aren’t as established
Example: Many Columbians are concerned about expansion as an urban community impeding on the city’s rural roots, this issue is an even more hot topic in surrounding communities where agriculture is more prevalent.
Local Community Outreach (Continued)
And Tomorrow…. Expand to become and remain marketable Maintain connections with Columbia Missourian and KOMU to
publicize and promote content
Develop relations and maintain communication with community players
Express multiple viewpoints through content Update maps for city’s future look Expand to new websites ie. Fulton Tomorrow, Moberly Tomorrow
etc.
