Differences
SBVC Roles
• Work with RUSD to develop course menu and schedules at the RUSD MCP facility
• Monitor student progress in college courses• Provide academic and career counseling• Provide opportunities for students to visit
college
MCP Application Process
Special Student Status at SBVC
• Students admitted to a MCP are accepted under “Special Student Status” guidelines– Specially admitted students generally do not
satisfy requirements for high school students to attend college
– All MCP students and their parents/guardians must agree in writing to the terms and conditions of the RUSD-MCP Handbook contract
MCP Concurrent Enrollment
Dual Credit
Year 1: First 9th Grade Cohort 2014-15
• Fall– Recruitment/application/acceptance
• Spring– Regular high school classes– SDEV course provided at Cesar Chavez Center
Procedure is repeated in each subsequent year, resulting in added grade levels
Year 2: 10th Grade 2015-16
Courses taught by SBVC instructor at Cesar Chavez Center Enrollment by MCP students only
Year 3: 11th Grade 2016-17
Fall & Spring– Students enroll in two college courses– Some choice using menu of courses to meet IGETC
requirements and or sub-categories of AA requirements.
– Coursework must follow Ed Plan on file
– May take a 3rd college class based on GPA and Ed Plan
Summer School
Students wishing to enroll in a summer course on the Valley College campus must meet pre-requisites:•Completion of 10th grade year and 1 year in program•Passed all college coursework with “C” or better, with no withdrawals•High School GPA of 3.0 (non-weighted)•College cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher•Completion of required paperwork

Early Assessment Program and Priority Registration
• The Early Assessment tests are designed to indicate a student’s readiness for college level English and math work
• Students who are designated “college ready” will not be required to take the Accuplacer test and will be eligible for Priority F registration
• Students who do not pass the Early Assessment tests may complete the RUSD identified coursework (“C” or better) in their senior year to be eligible for Priority F registration
