Harris Wittels, one of the executive producers of "Parks and Recreation" died at his home Thursday from a possible drug overdose ... TMZ has learned.

Wittels performed stand-up Wednesday night at The Meltdown -- an L.A.comedy theater. During his set he talked about being clean and sober ... and said he was in a good place.

The 30-year-old's body was located by his assistant at around noon, and while there were no signs of trauma, drug paraphernalia was reportedly by his side.

Police found Wittels to be unresponsive at his Los Angeles home when they responded at noon to a call regarding a possible drug overdose, said Officer Jeffrey Dohlen of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Wittels had previously spoken openly about his bouts with drug addiction, having attended drug rehabilitation twice.

According to NBC News, drug paraphernalia was found by police on the premises, but authorities will have to wait for the results of a toxicology report to determine whether illegal substances were the cause of Wittels’ death. It will take six to eight weeks for that report to be completed.
