Why is Marijuana a Social Problem?

We conducted a random survey at the local mall and asked 20 random people the same questions about Marijuana.

1.Age/Gender

2.Have you ever used Marijuana & when did you start?

3.What influenced you (friends,parents,peers,media?)

4.How often do you use this drug?

5.Would you consider it addicting?

6.What does it feel like when you become high?

7.Is it for Recreational or spiritual use?

8.Do you feel you this drug has changed you?

9.For better or for worse?

ResultsResults

1.Age: 12 people were between 14-25, 8 were 26 & up. 11 were male 9 were female.

2.18 out of 20 have used the drug.

3.60% admitted their friends influenced them, then media.

4.50% use it at least once a month.

5.All except one denied it being addicting mainly because they didn’t know the facts.

6.The majority described the ‘high’ feeling as lazy,nonstop laughing,relaxing ‘fun’.

7.13 were recreational use & 5 were spiritual

8.8 out of 18 said the drug has changed them.

9.& not for the better.

Approximately 60 percent of the kids who use drugs use only marijuana.

Marijuana can be physically & psychologically addictive. Each year, 100,000 people are treated for marijuana dependence.Research indicates that the earlier teens start using marijuana, the more likely they are to become dependent on this or other drugs later in life.

Researchers have found that heavy marijuana use impairs teenagers’ ability to retain information and concentrate.
