What is communism?

Communism is a system of government.

In communism, there is no real wealth or property.

It is all controlled by the government.

It was thought out by German philosophers Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.

It was published in a short pamphlet called “The communist manifesto”.

China: Communist case study

China was originally an isolated monarchy until it was conquered by Great Britain, which made it a british colony.

After WWII, civil war between the chinese communist and nationalist parties broke out.

It ceased on October 1st, 1949, when the communists won.

The infamous Tiananmen square incident occurred because of the government, where chinese tanks ran over many peaceful young protesters.

The chinese government was known for poor care of it’s citizens in the modern world.

Examples are over-industrialization and cheap birth control that failed.

The roles and rights of a citizen in a communist country

The only role of a citizen of a communist country is to work and support the country’s economy.

The people have no real rights because they have no freedoms. They have no freedom of speech, press or so on.

As said before, the government want the the people to believe what they do is right, so they do not allow most freedoms;

Why doesn’t communism work?

In a perfect communist society, a janitor would get the same amount of money as a banker.

However, this is impossible because the people would riot for more money because it simply isn’t enough.

The common salary would be too little too live on, resulting in riots and even anarchy.

The government then does not want to take blame, and thus blames others. This often results in arrest.

Some similarities between communism and a dictatorship

The communist government is like a dictatorship because since the government controls everything.

Another point is that the government craves control and expects the people to obey like a dictatorship.

The reason they do this is because they want the people to believe what they are doing is right;

and thus justifies their actions.
