instructions of others. – Wrote news stories from information gathered by established reporters and
other sources. – Reviewed film, recordings, and rehearsals. – Attended daily meetings where work was assigned to professional news
broadcast teams.– Interviewed guests and used footage and information for breaking news stories. – Shadowed, observed, and worked with professional producers. – Scripted stand-ups, voice-overs, and lead-ins for live news programs.
My first day…
I scripted the following stand-ups. I was able to film them during stories that I attended.
Another stand-up…
This is a package that I planned, scripted, and edited during my time with WCSH 6.
Here is a link to my YouTube channel that has all of my standers and packages I worked on at WCSH 6. There is also a couple of stories posted that I attended.

Here is an example of an anchor lead-in I wrote for the news.
• "Once a month, a group of naval veterans gets a chance to leave the land behind for a new perspective. This new perspective is from an airplane, and it allows these patients to set aside their struggles and enjoy the world from above. Reporter Gabe Ramirez joins the group and captures the priceless views and the veterans' reactions."
Highlights• Able to interview and do my first stander for the Harvest on the Harbor story.
• The first time I ran the teleprompter.
• Attending the live 207 show for their 10th anniversary.
• Dempsey Challenge press conference in Lewiston with Caroline Cornish and Josh.
• Creating and constructing a package for the Dempsey Challenge.
• Attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Westin Harborview Hotel in Portland.
• Interacting with professionals!!!
My Takeaways:
• Through my internship, I realized that I have a passion for reporting – This is my biggest take-away from the semester. I took a special interest in reporting during my time at the station. I love reporting because every day is different, and I love the idea of telling a story through factual information with a spin of creativity. It seems fun, and you get to talk to people and learn about our society and the world. This also plays into my deep interest for the public relations field. I also met a lot of great people during my time at channel 6.
