WAS / WERE

Se utiliza en todos los casos en que usamos el verbo TO BE refiriéndonos al pasado.

Mantiene la misma estructura: sujeto+verbo+objeto – I was at the cinema

Adjetivos: dan información sobre los nombres.

She speaks perfect English.

Adverbios: dan información sobre los verbos (cómo alguien hace algo o cómo sucede algo).

She speaks English perfectly.

Normalmente los adverbios se colocan detrás del verbo.

Sam always drive carefully.Muchos adverbios (no todos) terminan en

–LY: quickly, seriously, badly…Cuidado: algunos adjetivos terminan en –

LY (friendly, lonely, silly…)Una manera de saber si una palabra es

un adverbio es si ésta responde a la pregunta ¿Cómo se ha realizado la acción?

WELL: Es un adverbio (bien):

He drives well.

You speak English well.Cuidado! WELL es también un adjetivo

cuando se traduce por ‘buena salud’:

Although she is quite old, she is well.GOOD: es un adjetivo (buen/o/a):

She is a good girl.

He is a good driver.

ADVERBSREGLAS DE ORTOGRAFÍA(Excepciones):

1) Adjetivos terminados en -y la cambian por –i antes de añadir –LY:

easy – easily; heavy – heavily

2) Adjetivos terminados en –LE cambian la E por –Y: simple – simply; terrible – terribly…

Ojo: adjetivos terminados en –E la mantienen, absolute –absolutely.
