community Does good because it is essential
for democracy Internally motivated
Acts on their own
Conformity
Appropriate and acceptable level of behavior Complies with requests Cooperates with others Conforms to expected standards
Externally motivated Acts for reward Acts to avoid consequences
Bullying
Neither appropriate nor acceptable level of classroom behavior Bosses others Bothers others Breaks laws and makes own
rules and standards Obeys only when confronted
with more authority
Anarchy
Lowest level of behavior Absence of order Aimless and chaotic Absence of government
Anarchy is the fundamental enemy of civilization
