“3G AND 4G MOBILE TECHNOLOGIES”PRESENTED BY:
GAGAN H SCOMPUTER SCIENCE 5TH SEM
DRAWBACKS OF 1G
Poor voice quality
Poor Battery Life
Large Phone size
No SecurityFrequent call drops
“SECOND GENERATION”2G Phones using Global System for Mobile
communication(GSM) 2G Phones are first used in 1990s in Europe.GSM Provides voice and limited data services and
uses digital modulation for Improved Audio quality.Digital AMPS,CDMA were some of the 2G systems.
FEATURES INCLUDES:• TEXT• SMS• FAX• 2D
DRAWBACKS OF “2G”The GSM is a circuit switched, connection
oriented technology, where the end systems are dedicated for the entire call session.
The GSM enabled system do not support high data rates.
They are unable to handle complex data such as Video.
Reduce range of Sound.Weaker Digital Signal.
“2.5G WIRELESS”An Interim stage between 3G and 2G that is
“2.sG”o FEATURES INCLUDESo Phone calls/Faxo Voice mailso Send/Receive E-mail Messageso Web Browsingo Camera Phoneso Speed:64-144kb/seco Time to download a 3 min MP3 song in 6-9 min
3G is the Third Generation of the Mobile phone technology.
3G supersedes 2G technology and presides 4G.
3G is one of the wireless technology.
3G is a set of standards for Mobile communications.
What is 3G?
History of 3G The First Pre-commercial 3G network launched in May 2001 by NTT 3G DoCoMo in JAPAN.
3G technology Provided by ITU(International Telecommunication Union) with IMT-2000 technology.
The first 3G technology Introduced by APPLE company
High SpeedImproved voice qualityGlobal Roaming Access across networks
Improved SecurityService flexibility
3G Capabilities
Wireless InternetAudio on demandVideo conferencingTraffic and Travelling Information
3G APPLICATIONS
3G technology offers fast communication High speed Internet Watching live T.V Video calls Receiving E-mails and download Music
tracks 3G support Multimedia Applications Web using is Possible at outdoors also
3G Advantages
3G Connections are not available every where.
3G Services require equipment that is more Expansive.
3G mobiles are heavier than 2G mobiles when more power and Batteries are needed.
3G Disadvantages
ANYTIME,ANYWHERE CONNECTION
Also known as “Mobile Broadband Everywhere”
One of the terms used to describe the 4G is:
MAGIC Mobile Multimedia Anytime Anywhere Global Mobility Support Integrated Wireless Solution and Customized Personal Services
“4G”
4G WHAT IS 4G???• Faster and more Reliable-100 Mbps• Lower cost than Previous Generation• Multi-standard Wireless System - Bluetooth ,WifiCoverage of Wide area.Wide variety of Service Capability.Ad Hoc networkingIpv6 corePotentially IEEE Standards 802.11Only Packet Switching used unlike Previous
Generations.OFDMSA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple
Access) and MIMO(Multiple In Multiple Out) replace CDMA spread Radio technology
WHY 4G ??? Higher Bandwidth Enables a Range of New
Applications
For the CustomerVideo Streaming , TV BroadcastVideo calls , Video clips-news , Music , SportsEnhanced Gaming , Chat , Location Services…
For BusinessHigh Speed Tele-working/VPN AccessSales force AutomationVideo ConferencingReal Time Financial Information
ADVANTAGES OF 4GHigh usability: Anytime , Anywhere and with Any
technology.Support for Multimedia Services at low level
transmission cost.Higher bandwidth, tight network security.
DISADVANTAGES OF 4GThe Equipment Required to Implement a next
Generation network is Still very Expansive.Carriers and Providers have to Plan carefully to make
sure that Expenses are kept Realistic.
FEATURES OF 4GHIGH SPEED 20-TO-100 MBPS
HIGH NETWORK CAPACITY TO DOWNLOAD 10 MB 4G TAKES 1
SECOND
3G TAKES 200 SECONDS
NEXT GENERATION MULTIMEDIA SUPPORT
LARGE VOLUME OF DATA TRANSMISSION AT LOW COST
