What kind of media institution might describe your media

product and why?

Immediate Media Company

• Combined publishing house• Made up of Origin Publishing, Magicalia and

BBC magazines.• They publish one monthly music magazine.• my magazine may well increase their profit by

bringing in new readers as they only have readers of BBC Top Of The Pops. This would raise their intake each fortnight when my product is released and bring in readers from the opposite side of the music market to TOTP.

Bauer Media

• The main music magazine they publish is Kerrang.• They also publish Q• These magazines are similar to mine although Kerrang is

more hard rock compared to my indie/alternative vibe. Q publish artists from many different genres depending on popularity.

• this media institution would be a good institution to publish my magazine due to the face their main magazines attract a target audience similar to mine and they may cross over a little bit. My magazine would, however, broaden their audience a little bit more as my magazine focuses only on indie/alternative artists. I feel as though people who read Kerrang and Q would also read my magazine.

Prometheus Global Media

• Adweek is published by PGM.• As is The Hollywood Reporter• Their biggest mgazine which is huge in the

muic industry is Billboard.• I feel as though none of these magazines

are similar to mine.• If PGM were to publish my magazine, I

feel as though my genre may bring in a new audience and increase their intakes by expanding their readers.

Which one I'd use

• After looking into publishing companies again, I feel as though Bauer Media would be the best suit for my magazine.

• They have already got an established audience who buy Kerrang and Q and those are the similar type of readers to my target audience. This would be a massive amount of readers that would be exposed to my magazine.

• Prometheus Global Media and Immdiate Media Company do not have an audience suited to my music magazine style and therefore would not be the right publishing company for me.
