Why social media…?Wikipedia: Social media is the social interaction among people in which they create, share or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks.

Social media differs from traditional or industrial media in many ways, including quality, reach, frequency, usability, immediacy, and permanence.

• Modern way to communicate with existing and new customers

• Can’t afford to be left behind

• Another way to be found

• Convey personality through an individual voice

• Show that you and your business are alive

• Up to date market intelligence

• SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)

Changing trends…• Additional tool not a magic pill

• Balanced portfolio of activity

• Move from outbound to inbound marketing

• Everyone in the business, not just marketing / sales

• Higher probability - customer better informed
