Working Title• The magazine will be named Livin’ Rock. This title can refer two

meanings. It can be Living Rock, as if the genre is really existing. Or it is called Live in Rock, the audience are really immersed into Rock/Metal.

Genre• The genre can be guessed since the working title contains ‘Rock’.

But to be accurate, the genre will not only be Rock, because there are many genres related to rock which audience would like to explore more. So the magazine will focus on Rock and Metal. Both are big genres that are teenagers most interested in.

• The styles of them are similar. According to the survey we’ve done, these the genres and teenagers share the same characteristics of rebellion. That’s why we picked Rock and Metal into one magazine instead of others.

Price/ Publication Pattern• The price is set as £4.99, monthly published.

• Rock is quite popular among adults but metal can be an underground music. So the contents of each issue should be specific and the articles for both genres should be balanced. If the magazine is published so frequently, metal genre won’t be covered much. To make sure both of them have the same potion of contents, so we decide to publish monthly.

• Also, according to the survey, ideal price range for a weekly magazine is £3-4. Some this is monthly published, the contents are more plentiful. Therefore, the price is reasonably higher a bit. Considering we have high quality, so this price is suitable.

Reader Profile• Male audience: 60.98%

Female: 39.02%Average age: 18

This is the survey we’ve done about our audience.(It reflect the audience’s preference, so we know what sorts of magazine we can make to a specific group of audience.)

The average age of our readers is 18. They are adults but also young, energetic. They have the characteristics of rebellion, everything’s not controlled. That’s similar in Rock N’ Roll and Heavy Metal, they don’t like to be confined, it’s like living in their own world. Therefore, that’s one of the reasons why rock magazines are so popular among their age.

And most of our audience are male, which is a fact that rock and metal are more influential to male. But our magazine will NOT only for male, we will have a balance to both genders.

Livin’ Rock Reader ewis can be described as a normal British teenager like the others as he has many similar characteristics with them. He is nearly an adult (17) but what he has known and tried might be more than the others.

He lives in York where is quite a peaceful city. But it doesn't hinder his great passion towards music. Lewis started listening to country music since he was 6, influenced by his father Elton, who is the vocalist of York local band - ‘York N’ Roll’. Through the years he has been immersed in music, he found himself more keen on heavy metal when he was 12. When the first issue of Livin’ Rock Magazine was published, he had been our reader. He now is a music collector, which has collected about 300 albums (5 albums per month averagely), and also a music blogger doing reviews of all the new heavy metal albums around the world. We and Lewis are growing together. -When Lewis was 12-

Lewis is now in part-time employment so he can remain his bobby to collect music. Sometimes he has day off he would prefer organising parties at the weekend, many of his friends are invited to his house to share thoughts about music. ‘Drinking together, playing music is what the most enjoyable things in the world.’

Although heavy metal is his favourite genre, he is open-minded, also discovers any new genre of this generation. Especially how the technology contributes to music industry. He doesn’t like to stand still, loves to explore and try new things, like our audience, an adventurer.

‘Universe is one of the two infinite things in the world, another one is called music.’ - Lewis.

Style• Colour Scheme:

According to the interview, teenagers and adults tend to be keen on RED and BLUE. Many rock/metal magazines use these two colours scheme.

• Tone:The colours of the cover decide the tones of the issue. For blue, it gives an impression of depression. For red, an expression of anger and burning will be shown. Therefore, the tones of despair, anger and rebellion will be adopted in this magazine.

A depressing tone Anger, blood
