Matthew 6:19-33

Page 3: Walking in abundance

• 19 "Do not store up riches for yourselves here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and robbers break in and steal.

• 20 Instead, store up riches for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and robbers cannot break in and steal.

• 21 For your heart will always be where your riches are.

• 22 "The eyes are like a lamp for the body. If your eyes are sound, your whole body will be full of light;

• 23 but if your eyes are no good, your body will be in darkness. So if the light in you is darkness, how terribly dark it will be!

Page 4: Walking in abundance

• 24 "You cannot be a slave of two masters; you will hate one and love the other; you will be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

• 25 "This is why I tell you: do not be worried about the food and drink you need in order to stay alive, or about clothes for your body. After all, isn't life worth more than food? And isn't the body worth more than clothes?

• 26 Look at the birds: they do not plant seeds, gather a harvest and put it in barns; yet your Father in heaven takes care of them! Aren't you worth much more than birds?

• 27 Can any of you live a bit longer by worrying about it?

Page 5: Walking in abundance

• 28 "And why worry about clothes? Look how the wild flowers grow: they do not work or make clothes for themselves.

• 29 But I tell you that not even King Solomon with all his wealth had clothes as beautiful as one of these flowers.

• 30 It is God who clothes the wild grass---grass that is here today and gone tomorrow, burned up in the oven. Won't he be all the more sure to clothe you? What little faith you have!

Page 6: Walking in abundance

• 31 "So do not start worrying: 'Where will my food come from? or my drink? or my clothes?'

• 32 (These are the things the pagans are always concerned about.) Your Father in heaven knows that you need all these things.

• 33 Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things.

Page 7: Walking in abundance

WHAT IS ABUNDANCE?

An extremely plentiful or oversufficient quantity or supply

Page 8: Walking in abundance

YOU DON’T NEED TO BE BORN AGAIN TO WALK IN MATERIAL AND FINANCIAL ABUNDANCE

• The Muslim billionaires globally

• Other billionaires who bear Christian names and still wallow in sin, etc.

Page 9: Walking in abundance

But, with all their wealth, they still lack the most important thing…

Page 10: Walking in abundance

…Abundant life! (salvation, peace, joy, access to the supernatural, health,

purpose, security, provisions, etc. combined together)

Which is ONLY found in Christ Jesus

Page 11: Walking in abundance

John 10:9-10

• 9. I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

• 10. "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I CAME THAT THEY MAY HAVE LIFE, AND HAVE IT ABUNDANTLY.

Page 12: Walking in abundance

• A lot of us are worse than these billionaire unbelievers.

• You come weekly to church, but not to the Christ of the Church who gives eternal life. Hence, you remain the way you are.

• The money unbelievers have, you don’t have, the abundant life the redeemed have, you don’t have. What a misery!

Page 13: Walking in abundance

John 5:39-40 (GW)

• 39. You study the Scriptures in detail because you think you have the source of eternal life in them. These Scriptures testify on my behalf.

• 40. Yet, you don't want to come to me to get eternal life.

Page 14: Walking in abundance

Matthew 15:7-8 (GW)

• 7. You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:

• 8. 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

Page 15: Walking in abundance

1 Kings 18:21 (NIV)

• …"How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.“

• If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Money is God, follow him.“

Page 16: Walking in abundance

Matthew 6:24 (NLT)

• "No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Page 17: Walking in abundance

Revelations 3:15 (GNB)

I know what you have done; I know that you are neither cold nor hot.

HOW I WISH YOU WERE EITHER ONE OR THE OTHER!

Page 18: Walking in abundance

Revelations 3:16 (CEV)

• But since you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of my mouth.

Page 19: Walking in abundance

CRY OUT TO GOD NOW FOR MERCY

Page 20: Walking in abundance
Page 21: Walking in abundance

Every of God’s promises and blessings has conditions attached:

Isaiah 56:4 (GW)

This is what the LORD says: I will remember the castrated men who keep my days of worship, choose what pleases me, and faithfully observe the CONDITIONS OF MY PROMISE.

Page 27: Walking in abundance

2. DISCONNECT FROM “LOT”

Page 28: Walking in abundance

• Genesis 13:14-15:

And the LORD said unto Abram, AFTER THAT LOT WAS SEPARATED FROM HIM, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:

for all the land which thou seest, to thee will i give it, and to thy seed for ever.

Page 29: Walking in abundance

• 2 Corinthians 6:14 (CEV)

Stay away from people who are not followers of the Lord! Can someone who is good get along with someone who is evil? Are light and darkness the same?

• Psalm 1:1 (CEV)

God blesses those people who refuse evil advice and won't follow sinners or join in sneering at God.

Page 30: Walking in abundance

WHY SEPARATE FROM “LOT”

• God does not waste resources.

• If God releases resources to you before you separate from “Lots”, the “Lots” would influence you to squander your divine allocation on frivolities like changing your phone unnecessarily, buying the latest wears when you still have clothes, making needless calls, paying undue monthly subscription for satellite TV, going on needless outings, organizing needless get-togethers etc.

(Luke 15:11-32)

Page 31: Walking in abundance

• He was blessed with unmerited favour

Genesis 48: 13-14 ;
