The Democratic Muse Autumn/Winter 2015 / 2016

Democratic Muse is bold in texture and somber in color; rich in fabric and deep in statement pieces. It is textual and brings the donkey jacket into tailored luxury; it adds velvet collars on floral and camo prints; it adds floral jacquard to the tabard of a three-piece suit; the length of the pants are everything from capris' to above the ankle peg leg., and Democratic Muse is a living, breathing dichotomy that works in many special ways.

Color Palette: / Fabrics: The color palette for A/W Alexander McQueen Menswear is depicted within the Pantone matches, andis based upon Europe Global Pantone Men’s A/W 2015 / 2016.Not surprisingly Sarah Burton and her team used off-basic colorsfor Pantone interpretations and did not use the major choices forthe season. Lots of black, crimson, workwear blue, military greenand silver were utilized this season and much attention was paidto typographic statements with bold graphic blocks and single word slogans. The fabrics that dominated were wool pinstripes, distressed houndstooth, loden felts, floral jacquards, velvet, needle-punched sheepskin, leather and silk.

Silhouette: The silhouette’s for A/W were mostly tailored with peg leg pants ; deconstructed overcoats in camouflage, houndstooth or wool and graphic blocking in various sizes. There were velvetaccents along the collars of the over coats and numerous pocket choices for the various blazers, suit jackets and overcoats.; heavy military knits; needlepoint accent pieces and diamante medals adorned some of the overcoats to remind us of oversized metals; rear harnessing and applique flowers, and workwear and drainpipe trousers presenting Democratic Muse into a stylized 80’s military punk urban gentlemen.

Footwear: Pointed Creepers with thick soles and shepherd shoes with different accents, a la Dr. Marten, were the choice of pairing and finished off the A/W Democratic Muse in true McQueen style- unique and memorable.
