Why are barber shops on the rise? Trends and fashions

run in cycles and repeat themselves. The old stuff comes

back again and, today, old school or retro fashion is having

more impact than ever and is right on trend. And this is

where the barber shop plays a very important role. This

popularity has to be made the most of and maintained so

that barber shops stay around forever.

What is a man looking for when he goes to a barber

shop? Specific services, being served and treated like a

man, elegant, professional and somewhere where they speak

his language. Today men have identified themselves as men

and they have a defined aesthetic personality. We understand

that personality and we capture it faithfully in our work.

As for the cut, what styles are being worm this season?

Defined and clean cuts, with sections separated from each

other, bushy beards and moustaches, mixtures of styles from

different decades and carefully crafted hairstyles.

What advice would you give to a man for looking after

his beard, moustache or sideburns? Wash and

moisturise them and, of course, visit your trusted barber

regularly. This will ensure that you always look splendid.

Men appear to have rediscovered barber shops. Why is this, in your opinion? It’s true that a few years ago barber shops were going through a rough patch, and the image of the professional barber was even becoming undervalued. Now it’s become popular to visit a barber shop with that vintage flavour and quality premises. Men like it! In our current salons we are trying to generate that atmosphere of quality and being up to date, integrating the touch of the mirrors, chairs and carefully thought out details that always keep us company.

Which services are most in demand? Shaves and haircuts have become a standard service. But a man comes to a barber shop to have his own space, a sensory experience. Grooming is popular, a word that combines three concepts: a clean hair cut, care and the condition our skin is in, and, finally, sideburns, eyebrows, moustache or beard. Accompanied by professional advice about the latest in cosmetic treatments, hair treatments and styling products, which are becomingly increasingly popular among men.

And what will be in fashion this season? This autumn-winter the general trend will be for the nape of the neck to be polished and bare, but without the hair being too short and fuller on the top. Big hair and quiffs will also be worn on the top of the head, using strong styling products to keep the hair firmly under control. On mid-length hair, waves and curls will predominate, flowing hair with touches of gentle styling products. As for beards, they will be long and bushy, moustaches handlebar style with the ends pointing upwards, sideburns as far as the mid-ear to make the features look more masculine and, of course, eyebrows worked at the bottom to lighten up the gaze. How should a beard or moustache be looked after? It is

just as important as looking after the hair. It has to be washed with specific shampoos, styled and dried. After this routine the whiskers have to be softened and the skin below has to be moisturised using an oil for beards, such as those that contain jojoba oil.

e’re not talking about a three-day

beard, untidy and unkempt. Facial hair

has to be cultivated with flair and elegance, in accordance with current aesthetic norms, which demand that it looks impeccable even in informal situations. For this, there is nothing better than putting yourself in the hands of a professional expert in shaping and giving life to that mass of hair using a shaving brush and a razor. Yes, barber shops are in fashion and they are experiencing a new golden age thanks to male clients

who are looking after themselves more and now make regular use of grooming and wellbeing treatments.Prices for trimming moustache, sideburns and beard tend to vary between 5 euros (thinning out the moustache) to 30 euros (for a good old fashioned shave). Add to this a whole range of treatments together known as grooming. This English concept encompasses male skincare and matching the hairstyle to the facial hair (hair maintenance). As well as their services, modern barber shops tend to coincide in their interior design inspired by old-style establishments, in which vintage furniture with masculine lines prevails, always marked by the imposing leather and iron chairs where they seat themselves to be carried away by an impressive choreography of movements that guarantee exquisite pampering for the face: facial hair trimming and facial massage, combination of hot and cold towels, application of essential oils… That’s the reason why they say that a shave from a barber is one of the greatest pleasures a man can experience.
