PACK 94: Your Scout Needs YOU!
DUTIES OF THE HIKING CLUB CHAIRPERSON: • Plan a year-round program with one hike or neighborhood walk each month• Research local Cub Scout-friendly hiking trails• Promote the Hiking Club to all Pack families• Lead and/or coordinate parents to lead each hike• Ensure all hikes follow BSA safety guidelines• Track participation and cumulative mileage for each Scout• Establish a program for recognizing mileage hiked for participating Scouts• Other duties as assigned by the Cubmaster
Estimated Time Requirements:• 4hrs (May) - Plan the annual hiking program• 1-3hr/month - Hike!• 1hr/month (Aug-May) - Committee Meeting Reports (attendance not necessarily
required)
Suggestions:• Comfortable with computers, spreadsheets and the internet• Ability to hike once a month• Familiarity with local forest preserves, hiking and biking trails, etc.
NOTE: A uniform is NOT required for this position.
