How to Grow an Organic Vegetable Garden
Prepare the soil
One of the most important steps to building an organic garden is to prepare the soil. Make sure it does not contain any pesticide or artificial chemicals. In some cases, it may be difficult to prepare your garden bed because it’s made of rocky materials.
If you are in such a situation then we recommend you build a raised garden bed instead.
Get seeds from reputable supplier
Don’t just go to a nearby store to buy seeds. You want to make sure the seeds you are buying are truly organic, especially if you plan on eating the produce later.
You may also want to get seeds from suppliers that have signed the safe seed pledge. Those that do don’t provide genetically modified seeds.
Mulch the garden bed
Mulch can provide a lot of benefits for organic vegetable gardens. Not only does it reduce the occurrence of weed growth, it also acts as an external barrier that prevents fungal diseases from entering your plant. Make sure you buy organic mulch! Eventually, the mulch will decompose and provide valuable minerals to your vegetables.
Choose the right site
Don’t forget to also pick a site that receives a lot of direct sunlight. For example, plants like tomatoes need at least six hours of direct sunlight per day.
You should also consider other variables such as wind, temperature, and soil humidity.
