Fads vs. Classics

A fad is something that is a short lived fashion.

Think of some things that are in style right now …

Page 3: Clothing Selection Int

Classics• A classic style is something that has been in

style for several years and will remain in style.

• Classic styles are generally well

made and have simple, straight lines.

• What do you consider to be a classic

style?

So How Should you Balance your Wardrobe?

• Your wardrobe should be composed of some mix and match classic styles.

• However, you should always include some styles that are the latest fad to keep your wardrobe up to date.

So How Do I Know What to Wear When I Go Different

Places?• Consider these factors:

• If the occasion is casual, remember that casual does not mean sloppy!

So How Do I Know What to Wear to Different Places?

• Remember that because Florida has such a warm climate, casual dressing is more accepted here than in other places.

• When dressing formally, look for clothes with dressier fabrics and styles.

• Make sure that your accessories match your outfit and the occasion.

Looking at Line Types• There are two ways lines can be created:

Structure or construction of garmentsDesign of fabric

• The lines in the design of the fabric is another important way for lines to be created.

• Structural lines are created through the construction of the garments (ie: seams & pockets).

Let’s Talk About It

Now break up into groups and discuss the answers you came up with. Each group

member should say their answer and explain why they picked the outfit. Were there

differences in opinions? Did you learn how you could have had
