A new kind of salon has come to Connecticut for the first time. The Blo Blow Dry Bar does NOT cut, color or process hair. Its all about the menu of seven kinds of "cat-walk" quality dos. Blow Outs Only.

Blo say’s its not just about the hair – it’s about the Blo experience, vibe and culture. They even created a blocabulary. There are hair cadets (clients), pig wig girls (mascots)

and blo bro (dude who likes dryers).

A hair cadet gets a blo out from a bloer on June 1 when complimentary blo outs were offered to local ladies in the media.

It’s a $35 service (about $5 less than a cut and style at most salons).Blo assures cadets, “You’re not cheating on your hair dresser”

Blo owner Stacey Cohen is a Conn. native and West Hartford residentIf Cohen didn’t land in Blue Back Square, Fairfield County was her next choice.

Cohen secured a five-year lease at 71 Memorial Road.

Cupcakes and truffle cakes made by Taste by Spellbound, of Avon, andpink champagne and lemonade kept cadets refreshed during blo outs.

Business cards of Fashion Illustrator Brooke Hagel. Hagel designs the large, cartoon-like fashion sketches that decorate the walls of the Bar.

A cadet settles in for a wash and condition. The Bar uses products by UNITE, a boutique line. It’s PETA approved, uses Vegan Formulas and is color safe.

And, in case you’re wondering, UNITE is also free of sulfates, parabens, gluten, sodium chloride, dea and mea.

Some tools of the trade include Twin Turbo hairdryers. Staff say its the “locomotive” of all blow dyers. The Blo franchise spent about six months

to test its professional equipment for durability and power.

Blo sells, Dry Divas a designer shower cap, for about $35. Looks pretty and keeps your coif protected in the shower.

Finishing touches are done and its time to see the results of the approximately 30-minute appointment.

Shiny tresses and long spiral curls equals one happy cadet here.

A splash of green pops against the white shelving. The Bar’s minimalist design includes gray walls, bright pink accents and white padded station chairs.

The effect is functional and calming.

A pink wig girl answers questions of teens on a lunch break from Kingswood Oxford School nearby. The girls promised to return as hair cadets soon.

Hair cadets were surprised with gift bags that offered a free blo out card, Moroccan Oil Treatment and some cherry-flavored candies.
