The E-Cig as we know it traces its history to 1963
O It was in 1963 that a fellow named Herbert
A. Gilbert was issued the patent on his
“smokeless non-tobacco cigarette.”
O But, it wasn’t until 2003 when Hon Lik, a
pharmacist from China was credited with
creating the first real e-cig.

There is no shortage of information about e-cigs
O Sites abound, such as Fryeart.org and
literally thousands of others who inform
the public about electronic cigarettes.
O There are dozens of companies now
selling electronic cigarettes.
O There are now “vaping clubs” or lounges
where people who use e-cigs can hang
out together (sort of like cigar lounges
are).
It has spawned an entire culture and community
O Like-minded individuals enjoy the vaping experience.
O The ever-growing popularity of vaping has meant an ever-growing number of product variations.

O You would discover that several large “Big
Tobacco” companies have acquired some
of the larger e-cig companies.
O Lorillard (Newport, Old Gold) acquired blu
in 2012.
O Altria, which owns Marlboro is also
