Goal and Purpose

1. Based on the many suggestion and ideas of the NICE members from the Canterbury Summit,

2. Building on the considerations of the Quality & Sustainability Group,

3. Considering the goals outlined in the NICE Memorandum,

4. The Steering Committee, the Quality Group and the Network Coordinators jointly initiate considerations of a organisational structure for the sustainability of NICE

There is a need for a stable organizational form, particularly important to:

1. Secure the sustainability of our achievements

2. Continue collaborating as an academic network

3. Reach the goals formulated in the NICE Memorandum

4. Establish European competence standards

Proposed Procedure

To establish NICE in an stable organizational form, we propose the following roadmap:

We will organize a first ‘general assembly’ in 2016. At this event, a first ‘board of directors’ (steering committee) shall be elected through the members of NICE. Until this point, we would propose that a new taskforce provisionally fulfill the role of the ‘board of directors’.

The provisional ‘board of directors’ shall try to found NICE as an stable organizational form in 2015, preferably before the end of the ‘NICE 2’ project (30.09.2015).

The ‘taskforce’, including representatives of the steering committee, the quality group and the network coordination, shall prepare the foundation of NICE. It will write the ‘charter’, select the ‘legal system’, organize the first ‘general assembly’ and support the work of the ‘permanent committees’.

Consultation: The ‘charter’ of NICE shall be developed in consultation with the steering committee and the quality group. Additionally, all current members of NICE shall be consulted on central points of the charter before its finalization.
