INTERVIEW
TOPIC
TIPS FOR A PERFECT INTERVIEW
FIRST IMPRESSION
We spent hours crafting the perfectresume. The format is eye-catchingand the wording is practically perfect. But we need much more than that.Scientifically, we have only seven seconds tomake a first impression. And once the
interviewerlabeled you then it is very difficult to change thatopinion.
IMPORTANT TIPS:
Adjust your attitude: “Change your posture”, hold your head high, pull your shoulders back and stand tall.
Smile: A smile is an invitation, a sign of welcome. It says, “I am friendly and approachable”
Make eye contact: Looking at someone’s eyes transmits energy and indicates interest and openness.
Raise your eyebrows: It is an universal signal of recognition and acknowledgement.
CONTINUE…
Shake hands: It is most effective if you do it right.
Maintain an open posture: You may cross your arms because you are cold or more confident but you’ll look more confident by exposing your body.
Talk with your hands: Gestures are integrally linked to speech, gesturing as you talk can power up your thinking.
Dress for success: In an interview you are being evaluated at least to some degree, by your appearance, clothing and grooming.
Do’s Touch your fingertips to
convey authority. Your physical gestures
should be open and expressive.
Demonstrate curiosity and enthusiasm while your interviewer is speaking.
Imitate your interviewer’s positive body language to quickly build a rapport.
Dont’s Don’t wait in reception with
your legs stretched out, feet crossed and hands clasped behind your head.
Try not to show how tense you are.
Crossing your arms can be interpreted as defensive.
Resist the urge to touch your face or play with your hair when you speak.
