FORMATION

Anti-corruption organization. Elimination of corruption. Awareness, prevention and enforcement. Operates under the National Accountability

Ordinance-1999.

HEAD QUARTER AND OFFICES

Its headquarter at Islamabad. Four regional offices in the provincial

capitals. One at Rawalpindi.

FUNCTIONS

For 1st 3 years it’s Focus was only at detection, investigation and prosecution of white-collar crime.

Include: Politicians. Public service officials. And other citizens.

NATIONAL ANTI CORRUPTION STRATEGY (NACS) PROJECT

In February 2002. Broad based surveys. Studied external models of

international anti-corruption agencies.

Involved local stakeholder. Amendments have been made in

NAO. NAB is empowered to undertake

prevention and awareness along with enforcement.

ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE

EXPLANATION

OPS. DIV. (OPERATIONS DIVISION) Mainly monitoring of inquiries. Investigations is accomplished. Legal consultants. Case Officers. Investigation Officers. Relevant experts.

PROS.DIV. (PROSECUTION DIVISION) Is responsible for preparation. Filing. And pursuance of a reference in a court of law up till

and including appeal stage.

EXPLANATION

FCI WING (FINANCIAL CRIME INVESTIGATION WING) Is a forensic accounting investigation team. Investigate financial corruption in Banks/Financial

Institutions. Provides active advice and assistance in assets tracing

wherever it is required.

EXPLANATION

IC WING (INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION WING) Responsible for liaison with international agencies for

investigation. Responsible for tracing of international assets of

accused persons.

EXPLANATION

HRM WING:- Responsible for logistics. Budgets. And central registry subjects.

ORDINANCE• PUNISHMENT FOR

CORRUPTION AND CORRUPT PRACTICES (SEC 10) :-

Punishment upto 14 years imprisonment or fine or both.

• IMPROSONMENT OF FINE (SEC 11) :-

Fine shall not be less than gains derived by the accused.

34A) :- The chairman NAB can delegate any or all of his powers and authorized performance of his functions to any officer of NAB.
