DESCRIPTION

Each September, Waikiki comes alive with Aloha Festivals, the largest cultural celebration in the United States. Traditional chant and hula mark the start of the annual festival on September 12 with the investiture of the Royal Court. Then on September 21, the 61st annual Waikiki Ho‘olaule‘a kicks off with live entertainment, delicious food, and Hawaiian crafters to spread the aloha throughout Waikiki. Waikiki Beach Walk is also celebrating with its own stage featuring two full hours of entertainment starting at 7 pm. On September 28, make your way to Kalakaua Avenue for a front row seat to Hawaii’s famous Floral Parade featuring a colorful procession of floats draped with beautiful Hawaiian flowers, hula hālau and lively marching bands. This year, Aloha Festivals will honor the important value of Moana Nui Ākea, or “celebrate ocean voyaging,” by honoring Hawaii’s brave and inspiring canoe builders, voyagers and navigators who help to perpetuate our beloved island culture.
