Resetting the content on your Kindle will essentially return it to its factory or default settings. You should only do this if you plan on selling your Kindle or giving it away. You can also do this if you suspect that something you downloaded to your device is causing it to seize up frequently. You will not be able to perform a factory reset if your Kindle screen is

frozen or if you cannot get your device to turn on. Back up any crucial file or files you want to save before restoring your

device to its default settings. When you wipe your Kindle, you will lose everything that you put on it. Content that you purchased through Amazon will remain linked to your account and can be re-downloaded, but third-party e-books and apps need to be saved separately.

Method 2 of 3: Resetting to Factory Defaults

Charge the Kindle if needed: After you confirm that your Kindle has enough of a battery charge to perform a factory reset, go back into the settings.

Open the "Device" settings.: Scroll down until you see the word "Device.“ Select this by tapping on the screen.

Tap "Reset to Factory Defaults : This action will de-register your Amazon account from the Kindle. Your device will also reboot, leaving none of your content or personal information behind.

Select "Erase everything : You will be asked if you really want to perform the action of resetting your device to factory defaults. In order to confirm your decision, you will need to tap on the screen over the words "Erase everything.“
