This is an example of jump cut on of one of the episodes of Ross Kemp on Gangs. The opening scene shows. The scene is from when Ross Kemp was focused on gangs from Jamaica, and the jump cut is used to show the fast pace movement of the scene and make it flow smoothly to appear more professional. The effect of this is that it is more interesting to the audience.

ROSS KEMP ON GANGS• Throughout the series Ross Kemp uses direct address to talk

about situations where he’s nervous or explaining something. He stresses different dangers he will experience and expose himself to. Looking directly at the audience allows us to feel and understand the danger of the situation.

• I like this technique and would want to feature it in my own documentary.

ROSS KEMP ON GANGSThe use of this over the shoulder shot creates a sense of weariness from Ross Kemp. The camera allows us to be able to see the large space that is kept between Ross and the individual which evokes a sense of caution. Kemps stance also suggests this caution.I like the idea or incorporating aspects such as this to create a suspenseful atmosphere throughout my documentary.

DANNY DYER DEADLIEST MENThe incorporation of this two shot shows the two men conversing. In between jump cuts Danny Dyer spoke directly to camera to expand on the situation he was dealing with and how this man claimed to turn his life around.I like the idea of including a genuine conversation in my documentary as it makes it more personal and addressing.

This long shot shows Dyer in a thoughtful trance. Through use of voice over narration by Dyer himself, it is made evident to the audience what his though process is at the time. This is a really engaging factor and would be useful in a crime documentary as the stories you would hear would be shocking.

I like the idea of incorporating this factor into my own documentary.
