Experience:

NHS Human Services: (Paid Position) Altoona, PA. 16602

I applied for and accepted this job while still providing private in-home care as stated in the next work experience listed. I was trained and certified in CPR and First Aide as well as in handing out meds to patients with intellectual disabilities as well as physical disabilities. I was unable to work there long due to the fact that I was still taking care of my patient with the substance abuse problems for the private family. There were many issues involved with this position which

included people stealing patient’s medications and lack of supervision within the company. I worked here for approximately 2 months. With my attorney’s advice, I resigned from this position because of a document that they wanted me to sign against his advice.

Private in-home care for an individual with Substance abuse problems: (Volunteer) Altoona, Pennsylvania, 16602

While attending college and for a few months thereafter, I provided substance abuse care for a family in which privacy was of great importance. I took care of this person from the age of 28-30 and saved his life on a daily basis at least once with the help of paramedics and my own self-obtained skills. Although the family provided much financial support, I also provided financial, emotional, mental and physical support the majority of this time period which started as a result of 4 surgeries back to back in May of 2011. I researched many detox and rehabilitation facilities and obtained help for each individual aspect of the healing process for addiction including the body, mind and his spirituality. Although there are still some legal issues that he is still dealing with, he remains clean and sober since June of 2014. This was not a paying position. This was volunteer work for experience and emotional rewards.

Arrow Child and Family Ministries (Internship) Altoona, Pennsylvania, 16602

My supervisor Ashley Saylor and my other peers/ co-workers have been a very big influence within me and my professional identity within this field of study. I aspire to do as much good for the community as I have had the privilege to have seen through working as an intern at Arrow. I have gained much knowledge in regards to training modules (which included Ethical Decision- Making, Calming Children in Crisis, ASAM Patient Placement Criteria, Age Specific Care, DSM-5 Brief Overview, Bi-Polar and Related Disorders in Children and Adolescents, Abuse, Safety in the Field) , group meetings, required paper work, inner-office procedures, and the emotional rewards of helping children, families and the community. I have certificates for the training module that I have completed and tested on. I am very much looking forward to moving on to receiving more hands on experience working with children developmentally and in all other aspects.

Through having the opportunity to do my internship at Arrow Child and Family Ministries, I have obtained the knowledge and trust to help put together Child Profiles, Resource Family Clearances and the necessary paper work needed to do so, as well as handle classified information including Court Documents/Orders and Child Placements in reference to the guideline set by Children, Youth and Families through several different counties. I have found this experience to be well worth my time and effort as well as rewarding. I am very much looking forward to learning where my future lies in regards to adding my previous work history, my newest educational experience at Penn State University and this internship experience.

Please acknowledge that the dates of my employment are not accurate. I have applied for a list of previous employers and dates through the Social Security Administration, but I have as of yet to receive the documentation applied for. Sorry for any inconvenience. I will try to do the best I can as an educated guess.
