Very few general dentists preform periodontal surgery. In order to get a viable day within your office (greater than 10K,) it may be necessary to refer your implants to the periodontist.

Depending on the patient make up of the practice, your periodontal department may have mostly periodontal disease or pre-prosthetic and implant placement. Generally, these do not exist together in the same patient population.
