Introduction: Occupational therapists (OT) are experts in change; we work with our service users to enable them to achieve meaningful goals. These ski l ls of faci l i tat ing change can be appl ied to promote and drive service improvement within our organisations. As a profession we need to confi dently sel f-promote and highl ight our talents for leadership and change management. Sharing our leadership journey can inspire other to do the same. Objective: To share my Publ ic Narrative, tel l ing the story of me, the story of us and the story of now to inspire others to embark on their leadership journey at Nott ingham University Hospitals (NUH) to faci l i tate posit ive change.Discussion: Storytel l ing can empower others to real ise their leadership potential and desire for change. Leadership needs to happen at al l levels of an organisation and Publ ic Narrative enables practit ioners to feel the sense of urgency needed to faci l i tate widespread change. National Health Service (NHS) has seen recent restructuring and the chal lenge to achieve more with fewer fi nances has become evident. I passionately bel ieve "everyone in healthcare real ly has two jobs when they come to work every day: to do their work and to improve i t ." (Batalden & Davidoff 2007). I shared my experiences of the Nott ingham Roosevelt Travel Scholarship and the Emerging Leaders (NHS Leadership Academy) with frontl ine staff at NUH to inspire them to take up these kinds of opportunit ies and infl uence the changing face of the NHS. To ensure compassionate leadership is taking place through the organisation at al l levels. Outcome: Sharing my leadership journey resulted in col leagues applying for scholarship opportunit ies to explore best practice overseas and bring this back to NUH, accessing leadership courses and assess their leadership journeys. Conclusion: Hunter identifi ed “We can al l be leaders – we should embrace this” (Hunter 2013) and sharing our own leadership journey as OTs can be a catalyst for empowering leaders.
