ADS is a multi-professional group of educationalists, researchers and practitioners with many years of experience in the field of person-centred dementia care and support.

The perspective of people living with dementia, their families and their carers are intrinsic to

the work of ADS at all stages.

We make a cutting edge contribution to developing evidence-based practical ways of

working with people living with dementia, their families, friends and carers that enable them to

live well.

We do this primarily through research, education, scholarship and policy advice. We draw on and contribute to the international evidence base for person-centred dementia

care. Using this evidence we deliver education programmes that empower people to provide

skilled, competent and compassionate care

Dementia Studies Foundation Degree

• First cohort started September 2014. • Its contents are informed by key stakeholders,

for example, people with dementia and family carers, and employers.

• The Foundation Degree employs the latest research and employ work-based placements to underpin learning.

Nottingham - Worcester Doctoral Training Centre - The Arts and Dementia (TAnDem)

• 3 PhD Studentships (2 based at Worcester and 1 at Nottingham University)

• The Alzheimer’s Society has funded 8 Doctoral Training Centres in various aspects of dementia to help to increase research knowledge and capacity in this vital area. TAnDem is the name of the Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) that has been funded to focus on studying The Arts and Dementia. It is a partnership between the Association for Dementia Studies at the University of Worcester and the Centre for Dementia, University of Nottingham.
