72 years old, male, with history dyspepsia and diffi culty swallowing since few months, on evaluation found to have esophageal submucosal tumour (leiomyoma)of size 6.5 x 6 cm in mid esophaguswith partial luminal narrow-ing. Mass has a partial circumferential growth through walls which made excision of tumour look diffi cult. This patient had consulted many centres where laparoscopic excision of mass alone, was denied due to its circumferential nature and rather was advised to undergo esophagectomy

But We operated this patient and successfully removed the entire tumour using minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, without removing any part of esophagus.

Post operatively patien was started on oral liquids in 48hours and progressed to soft diet next day and patient was discharged on 4th day, without any complication. Patient is on follow up and completely symptom free.
