There is an increased rate of fatal car
accidents on the Monday following daylight
savings time change.
The disconnect between the time that our bodies are ‘on’ and the new clock time may promote insomnia and can lead to disaster. Here's what you can do to minimize the time change's effect on your body.

Tip 1: Try To Pre-Adapt.
Go to bed half an hour earlier each night for two nights leading up to daylight savings time. This will seamlessly transition your body's internal rhythms to the new time.

Tip 2: Clear Your Schedule.
If you can't get to bed until your usual time on Saturday night, try to prevent having to wake up early on Sunday so that your body can get the normal amount of sleep it needs.

Tip 3: Consider Caffeine.
If you're dragging on Monday morning before your commute, a cup of coffee or tea can temporarily increase mental alertness. Just remember that it takes your body 20-30 minutes to absorb caffeine through your GI tract.
