Yoga for diabetes- diabetic neuropathy
Diabetic neuropathy concerns with nerve damage affect many individuals with
diabetes. The great rates of diabetic neuropathy are detected in those people
who have bad diabetes for long time period and those which have poor glucose
control.
There are four types of diabetic neuropathy:
Peripheral Neuropathy:
This is the most common type of neuropathy consists of pain, numbness or
tingling in the extremities. It affects hands, arms, toes, feet, and fingers. Diabetic peripheral
neuropathy is the one of the cause of non-traumatic amputation. Due to the loss of sensation, a
bleb or sore to remain unnoticed or treated. If it get infection left untreated may lead
amputation.

Autonomic Neuropathy:
Generally, most of the individuals are unknown of this type unless they have been
diagnosed. It affects a vast variety of nerves that consider the heart, respiratory function and
other internal organs. Nerve damage of cardiovascular system may occur and minimize the
body’s capacity to manage blood pressure and heart rate. Another complication is gastro
paresis. It causes an impaired or slow vacant stomach that causes utmost problem in controlling
of blood sugars.
Proximal Neuropathy:
It mostly occurs in older adults with type 2 diabetes. It causes feebleness and
pain in the legs and hips and it is generally linked to one side of the body.

Focal Neuropathy:
It is painful and strike quickly. It generally affects specific nerves in head, torso,
or leg. There are some common symptoms such as paralysis on one side face, problems in
vision, chest or abdominal pain that seems like the symptoms of heart attack.
There are some yoga practices to the treatment of diabetic neuropathy
Yoga Asana: Exercise is necessary for the controlling of blood glucose levels as it works like
insulin helping to movement of glucose into the tissue of the body.

Meditation:
Blood sugar increases due to the stress. The main aim of any form of meditation is
getting the relaxed and concentrated state of mind that makes calming effect on nervous
system, keep balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system.
Meditation shows the positive effects on blood sugar levels. So it is essential to make a
meditation practice to keep away the stress
