OBJECTIVE: To

demonstrate the

importance of good

collaboration between the

areas of

pedodontic,orthodontic and

gnatologic therapies.

It is importanr for the patient to first visit her pedodontist who will

check the patient’s teeth and assess the work necessary

depending on the problem. In this case the patient was referred

to the orthodontist for class two malocclusion.

After the orthodontist treated the patient for her constricted upper

with Quad Helix, the patient was then referred to the gnatologic

therapist , because she had a TMJ click. To treat the TMJ click

the gnatologist used a lower bite plane .

RESULTS: By unlocking the denture to allow the

mandible and the TMJ the freedom to function

normally, the patient resolved class two

malocclusion and eliminated her TMJ click

MATERIALS and METHODS: The following case

study indicates how this has been successfully

achieved in an 11 year old female patient of

caucasian race.

CONCLUSIONS:By working closely together in the best interests of the patient an

overall successful treatment can be achieved, which may not be possible without the

therapists working in close collaboration with each other.
