The HIV Story Project will bring together San Francisco Bay Area residents living
with HIV/AIDS, award-winning filmmakers, and a network of public health & social service agencies addressing HIV/AIDS
issues within our diverse communities.
Our community not-for-profit partners will help identify and
engage 20 individuals with inspiring & diverse stories.
The filmmakers will mentor the individuals and assist them in
developing, producing and editing a high quality short film related to
their personal experience with HIV/AIDS.
The HIV Story Project will host a robust community web site & new media content portal intended to
engage global participants & worldwide partners in an ongoing
dialogue that marks the 30th anniversary of HIV/AIDS in 2011.
Online video competitions will invite community members from the
S.F. Bay Area & beyond to tell their own stories, while portal
users can exchange thoughts, share experiences & engage
with calls to action.
All finished shorts films will be posted on the web portal and
made available for our community partners to use in their own
educational programs and for outreach purposes.
The 20 best local shorts will be combinedinto a feature film compilation forpresentation at film festivals & TV
distribution. The final product will paint an unprecedented portrait of how people
thrive & survive in the face oflong term illness in today’s world.
– GENERATIONS HIV –
The HIV Story Project will build a traveling interactive storytelling booth & public media
installation that will engage participants in an on-going dialogue about HIV. This offline street level experiment will launch during PRIDE month - June
2010 – in San Francisco.
At every stage, The HIV Story Project will work directly with its community partners
& other non-profit groups to develop high-quality media projects that serve to further
their missions, programs and the communities they serve.
