Team Transplant Athletes Promote Organ Donation

In addition, Scott Reiman has contributed to the efforts of numerous charitable and nonprofit organizations, including the American Transplant Foundation, where he formerly served on the board.

Team Transplant Athletes Promote Organ Donation

The American Transplant Foundation works to make transplant organs more available through raising awareness about organ donation and supporting better public policy regarding the issue. The organization also helps transplant patients and shares their stories, such as that of double-lung transplant recipient Gavin Maitland, a former marathon runner who is training for his first post-transplant half marathon.

Team Transplant Athletes Promote Organ Donation

Maitland is part of Team Transplant, the American Transplant Foundation’s charity running group, which raises public awareness about the 114,000 people on the organ transplant waiting list and the shortage of transplant organs in the United States. The foundation estimates that 7,000 Americans will die this year while waiting for an organ transplant. Team Transplant works to encourage more people to consider organ donation.
