The History of Spirulina Filipina

After 1 million years (3.6 billion years ago), this single cell evolved into different groups of species of bacteria.

Group of bacteria

These bacteria are microscopic with certain functions on Earth and with different natural chemical structures. Some are edible, with a high and perfect health potency (which is very natural in any edible bacteria),others are toxins, while some are naturally living in our body and in our environment. The most common edible bacteria are:

Cyanobacteria: also known as blue-bacteria or Cyanophycota (Dictionary of Botany). It is a phylum of bacteria that obtains their energy through photosynthesis. The name cyanobacteria comes from the color of the bacteria: (Greek: κυανός (kyanós) = blue) (Wikipedia).

According to endosymbiotic theory, the chloroplasts found in plants and eukaryotic algae evolved from cyanobacterial ancestors via endosymbiosis (Wikipedia).

They grow as microscopic, corkscrew-shaped multicellular filaments and are now classified as a distinct genus, Arthrospira . A. plantensis which is found in Africa while A. maxima Platensis is found in Central America (Wikipedia)

These organisms are among the simplest plants found in the aquatic

environment, and resemble higher plants by

the presence of chlorophyll and being autotrophic. The very primitive

algae were unicellular, but with evolution, they developed into

multicellular forms, which had vertical and horizontal systems. There

are different groups of algae. In past classification systems, algae

included six (6) groups. These are chlorophytes (including green

algae), euglenophytes, pyrrophytes, chrysophytes, phaeophytes

(including brown algae) and rhodophytes (including red algae).

Introduction to product knowledge

Food in any substance consumed by a person to provide nutrition for survival. It is usually of plant or animal origin and contains essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals and metabolic and digestive enzymes.

Why is Digestion very important?When you eat food, such as meats, vegetables or breads, these are not in a form that the body can use as nourishment.
