Psoriasis is a non contagious chronic inflammatory disease that affects the immune system. It causes an abnormal rapid skin cycle which does not allow the cells to mature.

There are no alternate names, but there are different types including:

-plaque psoriasis-guttate psoriasis-inverse psoriasis-pustular psoriasis-erythrodermic psoriasis-palmo-plantar psoriasis-scalp psoriasis-psoriasis of the nails-psoriatic arthritis

It affects up to seven million people. It affects all ages and genders equally, but is most common in people of European ancestry.

There is no known cause, but it is started when the immune system is accidentally activated.

The only major risk factor is arthritis, but is not very prevalent in people.

TREATMENT COMPLICATIONS

There are many different ways to treat psoriasis such as creams, but there are no preventative actions you can take to keep from getting psoriasis.

There are no life threatening complications but the pain and itching can be unbearable.
